INFORMATION & HISTORY
JAMESTOWN HISTORIC JAIL. This jail--built during the boom years of quartz gold mining--was completed in 1898. It was mostly used to temporarily house inmates until they could be taken to the main county jail in Sonora. It operated until 1940. From 1964 to 2007 the jail was in a theme park near Stockton.
